In the distance,
      I could see people taking a stroll.
    There were also white flowers scattered
        on the grass nearby,
      and pigeons had gathered atop them.
  I strolled along the edge of the pond,
          admiring the surroundings.

      but I also enjoyed seeing
  what lay beneath the water.
    There were many things under the water.

As I was engrossed in

      observing underwater,
  I was taken aback
when a duck suddenly flew down from the sky.

I was so startled
        startled
              startled
  that I hadn't noticed it
      because I was focused on
          watching beneath the water.
